Lost&Returned
How it works

From lost to found in five simple steps

Lost & Returned tags keep your things connected to you. Here's how to set one up — and what happens when someone finds your item.

1

Get your tag

Every physical tag carries a unique ID and a printed QR code. The QR code links straight to this app — when scanned, it opens the tag's page. You'll find the tag ID printed on the tag itself.

2

Activate your tag

Open the Activate page using your tag ID (or scan the QR code and choose “Activate this tag”). Enter a first name or nickname, your email, and optionally what the item is. We save these against your tag — your email is never shown to anyone who finds your item.

What activation does

  • Links the tag ID to your name and email
  • Switches the tag from “not active” to ready for finders
  • Keeps your email private — finders never see it
3

Attach it to your stuff

Stick or clip the tag onto keys, luggage, a pet collar, a laptop, a bike — anything you'd hate to lose. The tag is now live.

4

Someone scans it

If your item goes missing, whoever finds it scans the QR code with their phone camera. The tag page opens and shows a finder form — because your tag is activated, they can reach you.

5

You get an email

The finder enters their name, contact email, where they found the item, where it is now, and a short message. We email all of that to you instantly so you can arrange the return — your email stays hidden the whole time.

Your email is never exposed

Finders send their message through Lost & Returned — we forward it to you by email. Your email address is never displayed on the tag page or shared with the finder.
